Prithi was born on a narrow street next to one of Asia’s largest train stations, a mere 2 kilometers away from the 2nd largest red-light district in Asia. She’s from a poor family, and Prithi and her parents have little hope of a better life. The streets are a dangerous place to grow up, and little girls in this neighborhood are prime victims of abuse and targets for local traffickers. Prithi is in a very vulnerable place.
Knowing that the risk of being trafficked is almost certain, Prithi’s mother begins searching for a place that her daughter can live in safety.
We met Prithi’s mother through one of our feeding outreaches at the main train station. She and her daughter are hungry, and through our feeding program that takes place there three times a week, they receive a hot meal. Our outreach team is able to share with Prithi’s mother about a safe home for young children, to keep them out of the hands of traffickers - a home where her daughter could be safe, fed and educated. Prithi’s future changed today, and it all started with a hot meal and a message of hope.
Food changes everything.
Here at SOS we see feeding as a key strategy in the fight against poverty and trafficking. As part of our aggressive plan to help at-risk children, we have built a food factory in an area where 42% of the world’s malnourished children live. We’ve created a solution to intervene in the lives of these children. For only 20¢ per serving, you can give complete nutrition and save a child’s life.
Prithi’s story is one of amazing life change that takes place through a simple meal, and her story is only the beginning. Our food factory has the capacity to produce and distribute enough food for 100,000 children a day. In the lives of at-risk children, food changes everything.
We believe that children should have enough food to live a healthy and active life. We have capacity, scope and a solution. All we need is you.
